Formed in 1641, the city of Springfield is the county seat of Hampden County. This database is a transcription of city directories originally published in 1890 and 1891. In addition to providing the resident's name, it provides their address and occupational information. It includes over 55,000 names, mostly heads of households. For the researcher of ancestors from Massachusetts, this can be an extremely valuable collection.
