Sitting astride the Iroquois River, Kankakee Illinois is a short fifty miles south of Chicago. This directory which makes up this database was compiled in 1876. Originally created by W. H. Bristol, a long time resident of the city and newspaper editor, it provides each resident's street address and occupation. Containing the names of over 2600 persons, this database can be useful for researchers of Illinois ancestors in locating residents from the east-central part of the state.
