Lying along the Wabash River in the Indiana County of Tippecanoe, Lafayette was home to about 45,000 people in 1890. This database is a collection of two directories for the city originally published in 1886 and 1888. It is a listing of city residents in those years. In addition to providing the resident's name, it provides their address and occupational information. It includes the names of over 51,800 people, mostly heads of households. For the researcher of ancestors from central Indiana this can be an extremely valuable collection.
