Created in the turbulent years prior to the American Civil War, Iowa mustered thousands of men to fight in the Union army between 1861 and 1865. The soldiers in this database enlisted from Muscatine County, located along the Mississippi River, in the eastern part of the state. Information provided here includes the name of the soldier, unit, enlistment date, and in some cases, birth information, death date, burial place and discharge date. With over 2300 soldiers listed, this can be a great source of information for researchers of Iowan soldiers in the Civil War.
