Once part of the French Empire, New Orleans is now a diverse city of over a million people. Taken from small local newspapers, some published over a century ago, this database lists deaths for over 2700 residents of the area between 1840 and 1970. Many of these newspapers, like the New Orleans Parish, are obscure and contained printed obituaries for persons larger newspapers may not have printed. Information provided includes date of death and, in some cases, relatives still living. For those researchers seeking information regarding Louisiana ancestors, this can be an helpful database.
