Massachusetts Centinal Marriage Notices
Description (from source site) The Massachusetts Centinal began publication in 1784, in the growing metropolis, as a semi-weekly newspaper. In 1790 its name changed to the Columbian Centinel and publication ceased in 1840. This database is one of four volumes covering marriage notices from this newspaper throughout its printing. It contains persons whose last name begins with A-D.
The marriages are arranged in alphabetical order, under the name of both husband and wife, and comprise over 34,000 names. Because it was an area newspaper, researchers can find marriage notices for persons living in the surrounding states of Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine.
Boston has been the home to many newspapers throughout its history. This database contains marriage notices from one of these area newspapers.
