Leaving his native home of Sweden in 1847, Hans Mattson traveled with his family to America to begin a new life. This database is a collection of reminiscences written in his later life. It contains his memories of growing up in Scandinavia, crossing the Atlantic aboard a sailing ship and his appointment as U.S. consul general to India.
