Jefferson County, Mississippi, formed in 1799, is one of the oldest divisions in the state. This database is a collection of wills for county residents between 1800 and 1833. Each will reveals a multitude of information regarding the deceased and his or her family, often including spouse, children, executors, witnesses and other relations. Researchers will also find possessions bequeathed to loved ones, which may indicate level of wealth and social status. Including the names of over 1500 persons, this can be an illuminating database.
