Montana Death Index, 1989-98

Montana was granted statehood in 1889. Prior to 1895, the state did not require that vital records be reported. Statewide death registration began in 1907. This database is an index to deaths registered by the state between 1989 and 1998. Researchers may find such information as the full name of the deceased, his or her date of death, and the place where the death occurred. A copy of the actual death certificate may be ordered from the Montana State Division of Vital Records.
