First settled by the Dutch in the 17th Century and later acquired by the British, New York is arguably one of the most important states in the history of the United States. Compiled by Arthur and Nancy Kelly, this collection of birth and baptism records was taken from the New York church registers of 1660-1916. It contains over 75,000 records from Dutchess, Greene, Putnam, Rockland, Ultser, and Westchester counties and provides details on more than 300,000 individuals. In addition to the child's name and date of birth or baptism, researchers can find information on parents' names, names of sponsers, and notes included in these vital records. Further information and books from which these records were taken can be obtained from Arthur and Nancy Kelly, 60 Cedar Heights Road, Rhinebeck, NY, 12572.
