Description (from source site)
One of the most recognized and respected American newspapers, the New York Times has been in circulation for over 100 years. This database is a collection of death notices and marriage notices from the newspaper in 1890. Each record provides the individual's name, age or birth date, and issue date of the entry. In many cases, names of parents, spouse, and children are given along with the page number on which the obituary originally appeared. In addition to providing information on New York City residents, many out of town and foreign marriages and obituaries are included. It contains the names of about 10,000 persons. For researchers of turn of the century New York City, this can be a useful source of information.
