With such population centers as Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati, Ohio is home to over 10 million persons. The state department of health has the responsibility of recording the deaths of the tens of thousands of residents who die each year. This index of person who died in the state between 1989 and 1991 contains over 50,000 such records provided by the Ohio Department of Health.

In addition to the name of the deceased and date of death, information in this database includes birth date, state of birth, race, education level, and father's surname. Armed with such information, researchers can reconstruct significant aspects of an ancestor's life and family relations.
