Riley County Kansas 1925 Decennial Agricultural State census

Description (from source site)
Riley County, Kansas is located on the western edge of northeastern Kansas, about 100 miles west of Kansas City. Riley was organized in 1855 in Kansas Territory and had grown to some 19,722 people by 1925. This database was taken from microfilm copies of original census sheets housed in the Kansas State Historical Society Library in Topeka. It consists of 13 fields: KSHS microfilm roll number, city/township, section within city/township, page within section, surname, given name, Head or relation to Head of Household, age, gender, race, birthplace, previous residence (before Kansas), and occupation. Information from these state censuses, taken at 10- year intervals midway between the federal census counts, can be valuable for those seeking detailed information on a family who resided in early Kansas. In addition to this extracted information, the microfilm records also contain a wide range of personal information, such as military service, literacy, deafness, dumbness, insanity, idiocy, pauperism, and conviction. Extensive agricultural data is also shown for farm residents. Extended Description ISO abbreviations are used for countries; U. S. Post Office abbreviations are used for states in the USA. Additionally, Afr = Africa; AtlOc = Atlantic Ocean; Boh = Bohemia; Cze = Czechoslovakia; Dec = Decotah; Nfl = Newfoundland; NvSc = Nova Scotia; and Rsa = Russia. The records in this database were transcribed by Lewis Browder and proofread by a RCGS taskforce. The information is available as microfilm at the Kansas State Historical Society. It is also available in printed extracts and as microfilm of original sheets at the Riley County Genealogical Society Library, 2005 Claflin Road, Manhattan KS 66502 . It is also available as microfilm KSHS128 and KSHS129 at the Kansas State Historical Society in Topeka. Copies of specific records from companion printed sources can be obtained for a nominal cost by writing to RCGS, or by contacting RCGS Research Requests page at http://www.rileycgs.com. Extracts of Riley County, Kansas territorial censuses of 1855, 1857, and 1860 and Kansas Decennial Agricultural Censuses from 1865 through 1915 are also available in print form. Extensive use has been made of "?" to label uncertainty of our interpretation of script, implausible information, and probable misspelling. In critical cases, presence of a "?" should alert the researcher to view the microfilm for their own interpretation. Source Information: Brown, Mary Jane, comp.
