Originally written by Minnie Lowther, the History of Ritchie County was published serially in the Ritchie Standard between 1906 and 1907 and expanded for a book form in 1911. This edited version contains histories of various early settlers in Ritchie County. Detailed information includes the area or country that the settlers originally came from, records of births, marriages, deaths, and where individuals who left the county may have moved. The collection also contains names of Civil War Veterans and a number of interesting family anecdotes. For those seeking ancestors from central West Virginia, this can be a helpful source of information.
