Columbia, South Carolina Newspaper Marriage and Death Notices

Description (from source site)
As the capital of the state, Columbia occupies an important place in the history and administration of South Carolina. Because of this, newspapers from the city can reveal much to the researcher of Carolinian ancestry, both within the metropolitan area and throughout the state.

This collection of marriage and death notices from Columbia newspapers is a continuation of Brent Holcomb's earlier Marriage and Death Notices from Columbia, SC, Newspapers, 1792-1839. Taken largely from The South-Carolinian, the notices in this database come from a variety of sources, including the Palmetto-State Banner and the Columbia Banner. With over 8000 names, it covers not only the counties of Richland and Lexington, but also contains notices from Orangeburg, Lancaster and Georgetown. In addition, because it is the state capital, some notices from around the state, outside these five counties, can be found in this database.
