Reformed Presbyterian Marriages and Deaths, 1843-63
Description (from source site) The first periodical, The Christian Magazine of the South, was founded in 1843 by the Rev. James Boyce. It was published at his home in Winnsboro, South Carolina until 1851.
The second periodical was a weekly publication founded in Due West, South Carolina, by the Rev. J. I. Bonner and his brother-in-law, the Rev. J. O. Lindsay. Originally it was titled The Erskine Miscellany, but was renamed The Due West Telescope. Its publication dates were from 1851 to 1863.
All together, this database contains over 3600 name of persons who were listed in marriage or death notices and often shows family relations. In a few cases, significant details were also included. Although based in South Carolina, persons from throughout the South can be found within this collection.
Before the American Civil War, the Associate Reformed Presbyterians sponsored two periodicals in the south eastern United States. This collection of marriage and death notices from these newspapers cover the twenty year span of 1843 to 1863.
