The first settled community in Utah, Salt Lake City became the capital of the state in 1896. This city directory, originally published in 1890, is a listing of city residents in that year. It also provides a listing of residents in Logan and Provo for the same year for a total of more than 42,600 names in the database. In addition to providing the residents' names, it provides their addresses and occupational information. The database includes the names of more than 42,600 people, mostly heads of household. This database now also includes The Excelsior Address Book and Family Directory of Salt Lake City, 1893, as well as the Utah Gazetteer and Directory of Logan, Ogden, Provo and Salt Lake City, 1884. For the researcher of ancestors from northern Utah, this can be an extremely valuable collection.
