Traveling to California in 1849, Carl Meyer was a German-speaking immigrant from Switzerland. This database was originally published in 1938 and contains Meyer's account of his life in California. Researchers will find descriptions of his brief stay in New Orleans, his arrival in San Francisco and his life in Stockton. Additionally, he recounts his experiences mining gold in Mariposa. Detailing the life of an immigrant gold miner, this database can be a useful source of information for researchers of early California history.
