Bordered by Pennsylvania in the east and Ohio in the west in northern West Virginia, Wheeling was home to some 20,000 residents in 1890. This database is a collection of three directories for the city originally published between 1888 and 1893. It is a listing of city residents in those years. In addition to providing the resident's name, it provides their address and occupational information. It includes the names of over 46,800 people, mostly heads of households. For the researcher of ancestors from northern West Virginia this can be an extremely valuable collection.
