This city, incorporated in 1862, is located at the South East end of Vancouver
Island. It was first developed by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1843. In 1868,
it was chosen as the capital of British Columbia. This database has over 20,700
entries of residents in the census subdistrict of Victoria City (C) in the census
district of Victoria (4) in 1901.
