Created by the federal government in 1790, the District of Columbia was home to about 2320,000 residents in 1890. This database is a transcription of a city directory originally published in that year. In addition to providing the resident's name, it provides information regarding their address and occupation. This collection includes the names of nearly 198,900 people, mostly heads of households. For those seeking ancestors from the nation's capital, this can be an informative database.
